Two of Malayalam’s best actors today – Suraj Venjaramoodu and Joju George – will be seen in tour-de-force performances in their upcoming family drama titled Narayaneente Moonnaanmakkal. The makers of the film, which is written and directed by Sharan Venugopal, released its first teaser which was shared by Prithviraj Sukumaran.

The movie is backed by Goodwill Entertainments, which had also produced Asif Ali’s Kishkindha Kaandam, and much like the movie, this is also expected to be an intense family drama surrounding the men of a family.

The teaser of the movie hinted that it revolves around three brothers, who share a rocky relationship due to the family’s dark secrets. A night together at their family home has them revisiting these, leading to conflicts, which finally have them confronting what they hate about each other.

The film also has Alencier Ley Lopez, Thomas Mathew, Gargi Ananthan, Sajitha Madathil, and Shelly N Kumar of Minnal Murali fame. Narayaneente Moonnaanmakkal is set to hit theatres on January 16, 2025. Other Malayalam releases in January include Tovino Thomas’ Identity, Asif Ali’s Rekhachithram, and Mohanlal’s Thudarum.

Suraj Venjaramoodu’s Extra Decent fails to make a mark

Meanwhile, Suraj’s latest release Extra Decent is also a dark comedy revolving around a family, that failed to make a mark at the box office, despite getting mixed reviews. The movie clashed with Aashiq Abu’s Rifle Club and Unni Mukundan’s action-thriller Marco – both of which were preferred by the audience during the weekend before Christmas.

Joju George’s latest film was his own directorial Pani, which had done well at the box office. The movie, which also had its fair share of violence, is expected to drop on OTT soon, with reports claiming that Sony LIV has bought its streaming rights. The movie could be released on the platform in late December 2024 or in January 2025.
