In August last year, Kannada filmmaker Nanda Kishore, best known for films like Ranna, Pogaru, etc., had announced that he was making a multi-starrer with Mollywood superstar Mohanlal in the lead. The actor had tweeted, “I’m excited to have signed in for Vrushabha, the first movie from AVS Studios, directed by Nanda Kishore and produced by Abhishek Vyas, Praveer Singh, and Shyam Sunder. This multilingual movie is filled with action and emotion, and I seek all your support and blessings.”
At the time, Nanda had said that the film, called Vrushabha, would be an out-and-out commercial entertainer and that it would go on floors in July 2023. But if sources are to be believed, Nanda may have gotten an early start to the project. Earlier today, there were reports that Nanda had been spotted at the Ramoji Rao Film City in Hyderabad, sparking speculation that he was canning the promo shoot of Kiccha Sudeep’s next, #Kiccha46, which was to happen on May 22. Multiple sources tell us that Nanda is in Hyderabad as part of the pre-production for Vrushabha, which will go on floors shortly.
Nanda Kishore’s last release was Raana, a commercial entertainer with Shreyas Manju in the lead, which did not do well at the box office. The filmmaker was, subsequently, expected to reunite with Pogaru actor Dhruva Sarja on another big-budget movie called Dubaari, to be produced by Uday K Mehta. But the movie was called off in July last year, within weeks of which Nanda was on board Vrushabha. The filmmaker will, at some point, also return to make another film with Sudeep, but #Kiccha46, which is the superstar’s first since last year’s Vikrant Rona is not that. Speculation today was that #Kiccha46 would either be with Nanda or Anup Bhandari and it looks like it is the latter who will get Billa Ranga Baashaa rolling.
