Unlike his recently released Marathi film Ghar Banduk Biryani, which saw a lukewarm response at the box office despite being critically acclaimed, Nagraj Popatrao Manjule's romantic socio-drama Sairat, starring Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar, smashed all box office records in the year 2016. Both the original and dubbed versions of the film will be available for streaming on OTT.
The filmmaker has spoken out on the topic, telling ETimes that people do watch films on OTT, and they will see Ghar Banduk Biryani as well. The movie better be good.
Nagraj enjoys performing as much as he does directing and producing films. He has played both cameo and character roles in his films. The character of Inspector Raya Patil in Ghar Banduk Biryani is a whole new look for him.
He enjoys acting, and when he is acting, he doesn't get too involved in direction. This came in response to the question of how much he participates in the directing process. Although Nagraj always performs what he is told as an actor, they also do a lot of improvising, and everyone in the unit is always receptive to new ideas. He completed his duties and largely accommodated the vision of the director. The filmmaker attempted to contribute his ideas and engage in discourse with the imagination. However, the final say belongs to the director.
Nagraj has said, in addition to his other obligations, that he will soon begin filming a biopic of the wrestler Kashaba Jadhav. In 2022, Siddharth Roy Kapur and he will collaborate on a film called Matka King. He stated that he has done the scripting of the film, and they have begun the pre-production in regards to the upcoming film Matka King.
One of the most anticipated films, Nagraj's Jhund, flopped at the box office despite starring Amitabh Bachchan and other well-known actors. Similarly, the filmmaker has commented that he believes that the timing of the film's release was improper. During the lockdown, everyone was nervous, and moviegoers were unwilling to risk the coronavirus by going to the theatre. It was a rough period for films in general, not just them.
