Jailer is a proper multilingual film for many reasons. It celebrates the stardom of Rajinikanth but also gives adequate scope for the cameo appearances of actors belonging to multiple industries to stand out - be it Shiva Rajkumar, Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, Tamannaah or Sunil. Another Telugu actor Naga Babu Konidela, brother to actor Chiranjeevi, played a brief role in the film as well.
A few hours before the film’s release yesterday, Naga Babu called it an honour to share screen space with Rajinikanth in a sequence in the film. The actor-producer told that he has been a big fan of his brother Chiranjeevi, Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan. “They rose to prominence with great effort after a lot of struggle. I treat Rajinikanth like family and everyone in my house is a fan of his.”
The actor called Rajinikanth a very sensitive person who behaves like a yogi sans any attachments. He’s an evolved individual who’s crossed so many hurdles to reach these heights, he stated. “He has so many experiences to share about life, spirituality. There’s no height that he hasn’t seen. I had a wish to at least be there in the same frame as him, but I got to do an entire scene with him.”
Naga Babu wished good health for Rajinikanth and hoped for the success of Jailer. In the film, the actor is cast an influential man in Telugu states who helps Rajinikanth’s character Muthu to steal a crown from a temple. He also shared a voice note about Bholaa Shankar, directed by his ‘cousin’ Meher Ramesh, featuring his elder brother Chiranjeevi, Keerthy Suresh, Tamannaah.
It’s a happy moment to see my cousin and brother unite for a film; Chiranjeevi’s enthusiasm to compete with youngsters at this age is an inspiration, Naga Babu told. The actor-producer also confirmed that Pawan Kalyan’s Gudumba Shankar will be re-releasing in theatres commemorating his birthday on September 2.
