Nadhikalil Sundari Yamuna actor Dhyan Sreenivasan on directing films: ‘I am only interested in big projects’

Actor Dhyan Sreenivasan has been making headlines with his candid interviews, as he promotes his upcoming film, Nadhikalil Sundari Yamuna. Speaking in an interview recently, he also revealed plans to return to film direction in two years’ time, after taking care of his current commitments. Dhyan said that he has two scripts ready, both of which will feature top actors in the industry.

In the interview with Cue Studio, the actor mentioned that he had discussed a topic with a superstar, and had locked the dates for the project. Meanwhile, he is discussing a different idea with another leading actor in Malayalam cinema. Dhyan admitted that he is a bit confused about which project to pursue first, and said that he is interested in working on only big projects. “As a director, I am interested in only big films on big canvas and scale. I have always liked all genres and aspire to do every genre of films as a director,” Dhyan said.

Dhyan spoke about his production house and his intention to provide a platform for new actors too. He believes in the importance of giving opportunities to new artistes and technicians, as the industry is constantly evolving and established actors may become outdated. “We cannot survive in the industry unless we associate with new-age actors and technicians. We are planning something like a grand audition to connect with these newcomers and makers,” the actor elaborated. According to Dhyan, new filmmakers and screenplay writers have limited access to big banners, citing it as a reason actors like him receive more scripts.

Dhyan’s upcoming release Nadhikalil Sundari Yamuna also features Aju Varghese in a pivotal role. Both of them have previously shared screen space in comedy films like Kunjiramayanam, Adi Kapyare Kootamani and Goodalochana. Nadhikalil Sundari Yamuna is slated to hit the cinemas on September 15, while the digital rights of the film are bagged by HR OTT platform.
