Zach Galifianakis will be joining the cast of Only Murders in the Building in Season 4. His character in the mystery comedy series remains undisclosed, much like Kumail Nanjiani, who was recently announced as part of the cast. Nonetheless, someone in the know can affirm that his persona is essential to the twists and turns of this season’s investigation.

Returning main cast and new additions for Season 4

Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez continue to star as the three main characters, real-life neighbours who are obsessed with crime and often become involved in actual cases. Eugene Levy, Molly Shannon, and Eva Longoria are among the other newcomers in Season 4. The part that Meryl Streep played in Season 3 will also be back for the fourth season. Apart from the knowledge that the three-person mystery-solving team will visit Los Angeles before heading back to their home state of New York, not much is known about the forthcoming season.

Among Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Justin Bartha, Galifianakis is most recognised for his role as Alan in The Hangover trilogy. He has also appeared in the film The Beanie Bubble on Apple TV+, alongside Sarah Snook and Elizabeth Banks. He has a long list of film and television credits that includes Birdman, A Wrinkle in Time, Ron's Gone Wrong, and the Emmy-nominated sitcom Baskets. The film version of his comedy talk show Between Two Ferns has interviews with famous people.

John Hoffman and Martin worked together to create Only Murders in the Building. In addition to Short, Gomez, Dan Fogelman, and Jess Rosenthal, they each hold the position of executive producer. The show is produced by 20th Television.

Critical acclaim and awards recognition for the series

Since its premiere, the series has garnered critical praise for its stellar acting and its lighthearted take on crime fiction. The nominations for Best Musical or Comedy Series at the Golden Globes and Outstanding Comedy Series at the Primetime Emmys have been extended. Martin, Short, and Gomez have all received acting nominations for their respective performances; Gomez has received two Golden Globe nods, and Martin and Short have received nominations at Primetime Emmys.
