#Mute was announced to be released as a direct-to-OTT film way back in September last year. The film, which has KGF fame Archana Jois and Siddhartha Maadhyamika in pivotal roles, is a thriller directed by Prashantt Chandraah and produced by G Gangadhar.

The makers had initially considered a theatrical release, given Archana’s popularity after KGF, and the presence of Tamil and Telugu actor Aadukalam Naren, but then settled for an OTT only outing on NammaFlix. In fact, the team had announced September 15 as the release date, but that was not to be, and subsequently, there was no word on when the film would be made available.

The film follows a divorcee, played by Archana, who is tormented by a psychopath by abusing her pet dog, Cosmo. #Mute is about her struggle to free her dog, even as her life is put under the scanner, a subject that interested politician and animal rights activist Maneka Gandhi. “A year ago, you, I and all the other animal lovers promoted an unknown Kannada film called 777 Charlie and it became a hit. Now, I would like to recommend another movie called #Mute. It is made in Kannada and the film star in it is Archana Jois, who acted in KGF and it is going to release on February 23. The reason I am recommending is it is about animal cruelty and how to stop it. It is an action thriller and I would really would like you to see it. It is on Amazon prime Video’s subsidiary channel NammaFlix. It is coming out in Kannada to begin with and two weeks later in Hindi. Do see it,” she said in a video message about the film.

Archana, meanwhile, had her first mainstream release, after KGF, earlier this month, with Hondisi Bareyiri, which is currently still in theatres.
