Music School: Sharman Joshi, Shriya Saran’s musical set for a summer release

Sharman Joshi and Shriya Saran are playing the lead roles in a one-of-a-kind musical titled Music School, that’s simultaneously shot in three languages - Telugu, Hindi and Tamil. Directed and produced by Papa Rao Biyyala, a former bureaucrat and a first-time filmmaker, the film, made under Yamini Films, has music by Ilaiyaraaja. The shoot was wrapped up in 2022 and it’s now gearing up for a summer release.

The makers of Music School unveiled a new motion poster of the film while confirming the release date on Tuesday. The pleasant, feel-good poster of the project features Shriya Saran with a group of children in a car amidst a surreal location. The film, which promises to be a poignant, entertaining take on the ills of the education system and the significance of art in life, will hit screens on May 12.

Sri Venkateswara Creations and PVR Films are joining hands with Yamini Films for the release. Given the film’s theme, it’s apt that it’s hitting screens this summer and the makers sense good potential to draw audiences across all age groups. The musical has been shot on a lavish scale with top-notch technicians and promises hard-hitting performances from the cast.

Noted cinematographer Kiran Deohans, known for his work in films like Aks, Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham, cranks the camera and Rajeev Nair is the production designer.The star-studded cast of the musical comprises Prakash Raj, (singer) Shaan, Benjamin Gilani, Suhasini Mulay, Bugs Bhargava, Leela Samson, Mona Ambegaonkar, Srikanth Iyengar, Vinay Varma, Phani Eggone and others.

The film was shot amidst strict COVID-19 regulations over the last couple of years across several locations in Hyderabad and Goa. Manan Sagar is the editor and Raaga Reddy handles the costume design. Yamini Rao and Akshay Balsaraf are the creative producer and the executive producer respectively. A full-fledged promotional campaign around the film will kickstart shortly.
