The makers of the upcoming Malayalam film, Kanakarajyam, dropped a major update over its theatrical release. The emotional family drama, which features Murali Gopy and Indrans in prominent roles, will hit the big screens across the state on July 5. The release date was revealed in a new poster.

In 2022, the first look poster was released by the makers, showcasing Indrans' character alongside his wife and daughter, played by Jolly Chirayath and Bhoothakalam-fame Athira Patel. They recently unveiled a second poster, this one featuring Murali Gopy as the other protagonist. The main characters and their families were featured on both posters, which is indicative of the film's emotional drama central theme.

Dinesh Prabhakar, Unni Raj, Sreejith Ravi, Jolly Chirayath, and Ramesh Kottayam are among the supporting cast members of the film, which is bankrolled by Vinayak Ajith Films Pvt Ltd. The majority of the movie was filmed in various locations of Kollam.

The film's director, Sagar, revealed in an earlier interview with Kochi Times that the story revolves around a jewellery theft that happened in Alappuzha in 2005. In the film, which examines the dynamics between the two main characters, Indrans plays a security guard and Murali appears in a rural avatar. Sagar’s previous works are Sathyam Maathrame Bodhipikku and Veekam, both in which Dhyan Sreenivasan played the lead roles.

In the movie, Leona Lishoy plays Murali's wife. In those scenes, Sagar and his team state that they have chosen to accurately depict the events that took place and have not included any commercial elements in order "to do justice to the comprehensible story."

Murali Gopy’s theatrical release after a while

Murali previously starred in Krishna Sankar's Kochaal and Kuruthi, which was released on Amazon Prime Video. The script for Rathish Ambat's Theerppu, which is available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, was also written by the actor. Murali is working on L2: Empuraan project currently.
