Following the introduction of the haunting witch Stree and the horrifying werewolf Bhediya to Indian cinema, Maddock Films presents a new monster. Munjya brings a fresh perspective to the genre with his ability to not only speak and move but also to instill terror in spectators.

Pioneering CGI technology in Indian cinema

Being the first Indian feature film to use a fully-fledged CGI creature throughout its runtime, this film furthers Dinesh Vijan's dedication to cutting-edge technology. The makers will unveil the trailer on May 24.

The Munjya, a myth with profound roots in Indian belief and culture, is the focus of Aditya Sarpotdar's film, which stars Sharvari, Mona Singh, Abhay Verma, and Sathyaraj. On June 7, 2024, Munjya will premiere in theatres, and you better brace yourself to scream.

Connections to Stree and expanding universe

Earlier, a report in Peeping Moon revealed that Munjya is the fourth standalone film in this universe, which aspires to have the films cross each other’s paths at a later stage. However, Stree has a connection to the film's plot. While the storyline remains vague, we anticipate Munjya's encounter with Roohi and other characters during the film. Originally intended as a proper prequel to Stree, the makers have now altered the script to introduce a new character.

Aditya Sarpotdar is the director of Munjya, a Maddock Films production co-produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik.

Marathi filmmaker Aditya Sarpotdar, who has previously directed films like Mauli, The Sholay Girl, and Zombivali, will reportedly helm the upcoming film, while Yogesh Chandekar has written the script.
