There is a lot of excitement surrounding the release of Nani and Mrunal Thakur's Telugu film, Hi Nanna, which is helmed by debutant Shouryuv. This is Mrunal's second outing in Tollywood alongside Nani. And in a recent interview, the actress opened up about Hi Nanna and why she chose this project.
Mrunal Thakur: Yashna is a modern version of Sita of Sita Ramam
In a chat with Youtuber Nikhil Vijendra Simha, Mrunal said that she connected with her character in Hin Nanna, Yashna, and that is the main reason that she agreed to be a part of the film. "If I wouldn't have been able to connect with the character, I wouldn't have done the film, irrespective of how good the story is, who the director is, or who else is starring in the film. It's very important for me to be in sync with the character that I am playing," she said.
When asked about what the audience will take away from her character Yashna, Mrunal said, “For me, it was like playing two different characters in the first and second halves of the film. I want the audience to understand that no matter what, you will always find love. I hate that I can't speak much about the film, but Hi Nanna will make people believe that love does exist."
The actress also said that Yashna is like a modern version of Sita (from her previous Sita Ramam) in terms of her style. “Yashna is a modern Sita, like Sita 2.0,” joked the actress. She continued, “In the film, Yashna fixes a few broken relationships without saying that she is fixing them. There is a lot of layering in her character. She knows what she wants in life and wants to give all her love to Mahi (Baby Kiara) and Viraj (Nani)."
The plot and crew of Hi Nanna
Nani plays a father in the film who falls in love with Mrunal's character. While their love blooms from friendship, there is an element of betrayal and what happens next forms the crux of the story.
The film stars Jayaram, Baby Kiara, Angad Bedi and also Shruti Haasan, who plays a pivotal role in it. This pan-Indian project has a talented crew, which includes cinematographer Sanu John Varughese, editor Praveen Anthony, and production designer Avinash Kolla.
Slated to be released in theatres on December 21, Hi Nanna is produced by Mohan Cherukuri and Dr Vijender Reddy Teegala under the Vyra Entertainments banner.
