Mrunal Thakur, who made a stellar debut with the period romance Sita Ramam, is returning with an emotional romance drama Hi Nanna, where she’s paired alongside Nani. The film, directed by Shouryuv, releases in theatres across multiple languages globally on December 7. Ahead of the release, Nani and Mrunal were part of a song launch event held at BITS Hyderabad on Saturday.

At the event, Mrunal shared, “The amount of love you showered upon me with Sita Ramam has been immense. I am busy, all thanks to your love. I didn’t want to miss the event at any cost. I wanted to work with Hesham (composer) since I heard Darshana, I manifested it. The film is extremely special. I can’t for you all to watch it. The wait was long since Sita Ramam, but it’ll be worth it. It’ll pinch your heart.”

She labelled Nani as one of the most talented actors and said he truly deserved the Natural Star tag. “He worked in Jersey, I did its Hindi version. We had to work together. He helped me get into the skin of Yashna. She is an amalgamation of what the director wrote, thought and Nani felt. It is so nuanced and it is what makes the film special. There were many memorable moments on the sets of Hi Nanna.”

The actress spoke of the climax, where she has a scene with child actor Kiara Khanna. “I had so many emotions. For that moment, I felt I was Yashna. I felt so blessed to play Yashna, it has many shades and layers. As an actor, what else can I ask for? When you watch it, you’ll truly understand what I’m talking about. Nani and Kiara were magical as father and daughter.”

Before signing off, she also stated, “It feels like I was born to be here, your Telugu ammayi. Mrunal is here to stay.” After Hi Nanna, she’ll be seen in VD13, alongside Vijay Deverakonda, slated to release for Sankranthi 2024.
