Mrs: Nishant Dahiya says he never felt his husband character was 'bad' person in Sanya Malhotra-starrer - 'He is just someone who...'

Sanya Malhotra and Nishant Dahiya's movie Mrs. has been widely discussed since its OTT release. The film, directed by Arati Kadav, premiered in February on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium. In the Hindi remake of The Great Indian Kitchen, Nishant played the role of Diwakar, the husband of Sanya's Richa. In a recent interview with News18, Dahiya discussed his character at length. The actor never felt that Diwakar was a 'bad' person.

Nishant Dahiya was asked if he has a different approach while playing a character with dark traits. Talking about Diwakar from Mrs., Nishant said, "I never felt Diwakar was a bad person. He’s just someone who’s unaware. His behavior is so normal to him because that’s how he’s been conditioned. He doesn’t see that he’s doing anything wrong. In his mind, he’s the good guy."

In the same conversation, Nishant revealed he initially didn't wish to take up Diwakar's role as he had seen The Great Indian Kitchen (Malayalam film). The actor admitted that he hated the husband's character in the film. He felt Diwakar was the worst of all the gray characters he has played so far. However, director Arati made Dahiya think about it.

"Even though I was initially very clear that I wasn’t going to do it, I realized that this film could make people think. It could start a conversation. And that’s why I eventually said yes," he told the entertainment portal.

Reflecting on the film's success, Nishant expressed gratitude and shared that many women resonated with the film and liked it. "It’s wonderful to see how the film reflects society. We talked a lot about this while shooting," he added. The actor added that he, Arati and Sanya often discussed how the audience would react after Mrs.'s release.
