The film Mrs., which has been participating in several film festivals, has finally secured a release platform in India. After two years of long wait, the film, directed by Aarti Kadav and starring Sanya Malhotra in the lead role, is set to stream on ZEE5 (OTTPlay Premium), and the makers are yet to announce the release date. The film also features Kanwaljit Singh and Nishant Dahiya in pivotal roles.
The film's protagonist, a married woman with a background in dance, grapples with navigating her new role as a wife after marriage, all the while staying true to herself, her voice, and the societal expectations surrounding her marriage. Diwakar is a rich doctor, and Richa is a dancer and dance instructor; the two tie the knot. However, once she's married, she'll have to conform to the traditional role of a wife. An insightful drama, Mrs. stars Malhotra and follows a housewife as she deals with the challenges of modern life while maintaining a traditional household.

The 2024 New York Indian Film Festival presented Malhotra with the 'Best Actress' trophy in recognition of her portrayal in the film. This film officially adapts The Great Indian Kitchen (2021), an original Malayalam drama.
Many international film festivals have shown the film. The Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in 2023 was the venue for its premiere. November 2023 saw the unveiling of the teaser. Arati Kadav's film closed the New York Indian Film Festival in 2024 and received a nomination for Best Director. On November 22, 2024, during the 55th IFFI, the film had its Asia premiere. The 14th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM), 2024, also featured the film.
Earlier, during the discussion about Mrs. Malhotra, she expressed that she had discovered her true calling. Her two greatest loves in life are dancing and acting. Choreography by Brinda Gopal fits in perfectly with the plot of the film. As a professional dancer, her character Richa has a deep and abiding love for the art form. She wants to embrace her married life for what it has become but is afraid she will lose her identity in the process.
Malhotra went on to say that looking for roles that allow her to remain true to her passions is an ongoing quest of mine as an actor. She enjoys dancing and acting and was fortunate to have the chance to work on a film like Mrs. when she discovered such a lovely combination.
