February 7 saw the premiere of Mrs., Sanya Malhotra's most recent flick. Moviegoers and reviewers alike have praised the new version, which is based on the beloved Malayalam film The Great Indian Kitchen (2023). Although it didn't cause much of a stir when the trailer dropped last month, many people noticed that the names of the technicians weren't on the slate.

Arati Kadav addresses the missing credits

Arati Kadav, the film's director, spoke up about the "lapse" in an interview with Hindustan Times and expressed her gratitude that the film's streaming platform, ZEE5, quickly fixed the issue. The filmmaker claimed that it was definitely a lapse, further explaining that there were so many players, and it was a genuine mistake. Multiple platforms worked together on this. They acknowledged that it was a genuine mistake and promptly fixed it upon her request.

Kadav elaborated by saying that she had a conversation with the crew members about it. The team and she get along famously well. Because their WhatsApp group is so active, they quickly feel like family. The crew is now getting the recognition they deserve, which is something they were talking about. Lots of newcomers make their film debut in her film. She continued by saying that getting their name out there was vital to them.

Call for industry-wide change

Kadav, who was also behind the camera for Cargo, expressed her desire for other production houses and platforms to learn from this incident. The film is about the unseen labour and it seems to her that the mission begins with the trailer, where they introduce the team. The crew worked tirelessly and lovingly on this film, which is nearly as difficult as microsurgery. Thus, she is relieved that their names are once again on the slate. Kadav only hopes that moving forward, not every platform follows their lead.

Anu Singh Choudhary and Harman Baweja adapted The Great Indian Kitchen by Jeo Baby for their film Mrs. Sanya Malhotra, Kanwaljit Singh, and Nishant Dahiya make up the lead cast of the film.

You can watch the film on ZEE5 (OTTplay Premium).
