Mrs. actor Nishant Dahiya reveals he got hate messages from men for his character Diwakar - 'Go and eat rat poison'

Nishant Dahiya, recently seen in Arati Kadav's film Mrs, had initially refused to do the film. Why? Because the actor hated the husband's character in the Malayalam film, The Great Indian Kitchen. He was offered the same role in the Hindi version. Although the Sanya Malhotra-starrer worked well on streaming, Dahiya received a mixed response for his character Diwakar. The actor revealed he got extreme reactions from men after the film's digital premiere.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Nishant Dahiya discussed the feedback he received for his character Diwakar in Mrs. The actor admitted that he has received a lot of 'love-hate'. Nishant shared that many messaged him saying that they hated his character but appreciated his performance. However, the reactions were extreme by men.

"But the most extreme reactions I have gotten are from men! Men have texted me saying, ‘You dumb***k actor, go and eat rat poison!’ ‘Die somewhere, you mother****er!’ If I had gotten this from a girl I would have understood, but I am getting this from men. I think it is more about Diwakar, something they did not like about Diwakar and it touched a nerve in them somewhere," revealed Nishant.

The actor believes that his character is not a 'bad' person. He thinks Diwakar is conditioned in a certain way that he doesn't see whatever he is doing. For Nishant, the most difficult part of playing Diwakar was that he already hated the character from the Malayalam version. However, the actor had to erase whatever he had seen and connect with the role to play it.
