Mr and Mrs Mahi: Janhvi Kapoor undergoes six months prep for forthcoming film with Rajkummar Rao

Janhvi Kapoor is certainly keeping busy these days, with a host of projects in the pipeline at the moment. One of her upcoming projects comes in the form of the sports drama Mr and Mrs Mahi, which will see her share the screen with Rajkummar Rao. The actress recently opened up about the intense prep she had put in for the film.

In conversation with Mid Day, Janhvi revealed that the prep she underwent for the film was an ‘exhaustive process’ that stretched on for six months. The actress spoke of how she had tried to get into the skin of the character and get into sync with the role as best as she could.

A source told the portal that the actress had put in a lot of effort to master the mannerisms of a cricketer, including the body language and proper stances of a player. Calling it a very ‘physically intensive’ film for the actress, the source added that the actress was also put on a strict diet of protein rich foods so that she could portray the agility of an athlete in the film.

The upcoming film will see Janhvi essay the role of Mahima, while Rajkummar’s character is named Mahendra. The film marks the duo’s latest collaboration after 2021’s Roohi.

Mr and Mrs Mahi is directed by Sharan Sharma, who had also directed Janhvi in the biographical drama Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl(2020). Sharan has also written the script for the upcoming film along with Nikhil Mehrotra. Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta are bankrolling the film under the banner of Dharma Productions. The sports drama is slated for release on October 7.

Meanwhile, Janhvi will next be seen in Good Luck Jerry, the Hindi remake of Nayanthara’s Kolamaavu Kokila (2018). The Disney+Hotstar film will release on the streamer’s platform on July 29. The actress also has Mili and Bawaal in the pipeline.
