Akhil Akkineni's fourth film as a lead actor, Most Eligible Bachelor, where he co-stars Pooja Hegde, has been in the making for a couple of years. Directed by Bommarillu Baskar, the film underwent multiple reshoots, facing many postponements owing to the pandemic, leaving many of the actor's fans restless. After a long wait, the film is finally getting to witness the light of the day on October 15. GA2 Pictures is producing the romantic comedy that also features Jaya Prakash, Aamani, Murali Sharma, Faria Abdullah, Pragathi Suresh in key roles. An energetic trailer of the film was unveiled on Wednesday.
The film's lead character, played by Akhil Akkineni, is on a desperate hunt to find an ideal match. He doesn't belong to the herd mentality and believes a good career lays a firm foundation for a marriage. However, a few questions he poses to the potential brides leave them amused, bewildered and one of them goes to the extent of filing a court case. His romantic interest is a female stand up comedian (Pooja Hegde). She initially detests his presence but forges a formidable rapport with him gradually. There are a few compatibility issues, misunderstandings which the couple tries to get past.
The tone of the film is slightly over the top though there's abundant comedy in store for audiences. Akhil's spontaneity and comic timing are a delight to watch and he shares good on-screen chemistry with Pooja Hegde, who looks as ravishing as ever. Most Eligible Bachelor has a strong supporting cast, foot-tapping music by Gopi Sundar and Bommarillu Baskar leaves audiences thinking about his take on marriages and career. Produced by Bunny Vas and Vasu Varma, the entertainer is cinematographed by Pradeesh M Varma.
