A selection of films is set to release on OTT platforms that you can watch and enjoy. While there are indeed some big films like Good Bad Ugly opting for theatrical releases, there is also a direct-to-OTT film test that will premiere on Netflix. Test – Netflix (April 4)
Test is Netflix’s first Tamil Original for this year. The film stars Madhavan, Nayanthara, Siddharth and Meera Jasmine. The film is written and directed by S Sashikanth and is a cricket-based drama. While Siddharth plays a seasoned batsman who is now out of form, Nayanthara is a school teacher who is yearning for a child and her husband is played by Madhavan, a scientist.
Gentlewoman - Tentkotta (TBD)
Starring Lijomol Jose, Losliya Mariyanesan and Hari Krishnan in the lead roles, Gentlewoman is about a couple who lead a conventional life, until a certain incident takes place and a revelation is made. Things further get complicated after another woman enters the situation, prompting questions about what is her connection to the couple. The film is directed by Joshua Sethuraman in his directorial debut. The film is one of the recent releases to be led by women.
Kingston - TBD
Kingston is a sea adventure fantasy drama starring GV Prakash in the lead role. The film is directed by debutant Kamal Prakash, and is produced by GV Prakash himself. Kingston revolves around a fishing hamlet who are barred from entering the sea, because they believe the waters are cursed. It features a cast including Divya Bharathi, Ilango Kumaravel, Azhagam Perumal, Chetan and others.
Yamakaathaghi - TBD
Yamakaathaghi, directed by Peppin George Jayaseelan, is a supernatural mystery thriller that takes place in a village. After a young girl dies by suicide, her spirit and body refuse to leave the home as the family members arrange for a funeral. Roopa Koduvayur, Narendra Prasath, Geetha Kailasam, and others play important roles in the film.
Perusu - Netflix (TBD)
Perusu is directed by Ilango Ram and is a dark comedy adult entertainer. The film stars Vaibhav, Sunil, Niharika NM, Chandini, Munishkanth, and others. After a revered village elderly man dies of post-mortem erection, his family members are left with embarrassment as they have to prepare for a funeral while hiding his condition.
Sweetheart! - TBD
Sweetheart! stars Rio Raj, and Gopika Ramesh in the lead roles. It revolves around a young couple who has to deal with pre-marital pregnancy, with the girl grounded by her parents at her home. The romantic drama is produced and scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja, and directed by Swineeth.
Veera Dheera Sooran Part 2 – TBD
Directed by SU Arun Kumar, the film is headlined by Vikram and also stars Dushara Vijayan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, SJ Suryah and others. The film has music scored by GV Prakash.
