In the first half of 2024, there were only a handful of films that caught the attention of critics, with box office success, though, alluding them. OTT is where Kannada audiences seem to prefer watching these films, like, for instance, Case of Kondana, Blink, Shakahaari, etc. Joining this list is Moorane Krishnappa, the latest directorial by Naveen Narayanaghatta.
A comedy led by Sampath Maithreya and Rangayana Raghu, Moorane Krishnappa, which released in theatres on June 6, is now available to stream. OTTplay had earlier reported that the team had managed to get a digital partner on board and now we have a streaming update too.
Moorane Krishnappa had been picked up by Amazon Prime Video under the pay-per-view model a few weeks ago, and became available to audiences in UK and USA a day ago. The India release was not delayed much, with Moorane Krishnappa dropping on July 19.

Moorane Krishnappa is a comedy revolving around the panchayat president election. While the sitting president Veeranna (Rangayana Raghu) seems to know the pulse of his voters and thinks a new temple and a grand inauguration will seal the deal for him. His opponent is Loki (Ugramm Manju), who spends more time serenading women and partying with his followers. When Veeranna’s big plans are on the verge of collapse after the chief guest becomes unavailable, he enlists the help of local Maths teacher Krishnappa, in the hope that he can swing something with his contacts in the city.
When one of Krishnappa’s school buddies boasts of connections with powers-that-be in the Vidhana Soudha, makes a rather tall promise for a sum of money, of course, Veeranna’s plan is back in motion. But will Krishnappa be able to deliver?
Set in the Anekal-Kolar belt, Moorane Krishnappa featured the dialect of Kannada spoken in the area, which was one of its high points. Also starring Tukali Santhosh, Sripriya, Aarohi Narayan, among others.
