The Disney+ Original Marvel shows are set to return after a brief hiatus since the conclusion of Hawkeye over the festive period. It narrated a tale of Clint Barton/Hawkeye, one of the most popular characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe who has been around since Kenneth Branagh’s film, Thor, released over a decade ago. Moon Knight will introduce one of the lesser-known heroes from Marvel Comics often monikered as the ‘Batman of Marvel’ because of the similarities the character shares with DC’s iconic ‘Caped Crusader’.

Who are the showrunners of Moon Knight?

Filmmaker Jeremey Slater serves as creator and executive producer for the six-episode mini-series. Slater’s film credits are not the most flattering, with his most notable projects being the poorly received 2015 Fantastic Four film and the critically panned live-action adaptation of Death Note from 2017. However, his television credits include popular shows such as The Umbrella Academy and The Exorcist. Moon Knight is his first foray as creator and showrunner of a major TV show. Egyptian director Mohamed Diab will serve as the lead director in charge of four episodes. He is joined by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead as directors of the remaining two episodes.

Who are part of the Moon Knight cast?

Acclaimed Hollywood star Oscar Isaac will play the lead as Marc Spector/Moon Knight. Isaac is best known for his roles in the Star Wars series, Drive, Inside Llewyn Davis, X-Men: Apocalypse, Ex-Machina, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and most recently in Dune. Veteran American actor Ethan Hawke, famous for playing the lead in films such as the Before trilogy, Boyhood and Training Day, will play the role of Arthur Harrow, a cult leader. The series will also feature Gaspard Ulliel and May Calamawy in additional roles.

What is Moon Knight about?

The story will focus on Marc Spectre, a former American CIA special forces mercenary, who suffers from dissociative identity disorder (DID), commonly referred to as multiple personality disorder. His most predominant alter ego is Steven Grant, a relatively soft-spoken man living in London. The trailer for the TV series opens with Steven Grant who appears to have blackouts and wakes up in inexplicable and often dangerous situations.

In the comic book lore, Spectre is chosen by the Egyptian moon Khonshu to be the conduit to fight injustice in the modern world. It seems likely that the origin story for the character will stay close to the source material unlike a few of the other MCU adaptations in recent years. However, Ethan Hawke is set to play an original character called Arthur Harrow, a cult leader. There are fan theories that he could be playing the villainous role of the Sun god. Gaspard Ulliel will be seen in the role of Anton Mogart / Midnight Man,
