Monica, O My Darling. Remember the song? The trailer of Huma Qureshi, Rajkummar Rao and Radhika Apte’s upcoming Netflix film is the living example of the song from the 1971 movie, Caravan. It is, however, a twisted version of the song.

Huma plays the role of Monica. She is someone who is very materialistic and has used men for her own benefit. Now, these men want revenge. Thus commences an episode of Crime Patrol.

This is not just any episode from Anuup Soni’s show. It is the one you will go back to and realize that you saw many things differently the first time.

When you hear ‘Piya Tu Ab Toh Aa Jaa,’ run in the opposite direction at the speed of a cheetah because something bad will happen with these psychos around. Welcome to the dark and twisted world.

Monica is a singer-dancer. She is used to the lonely nights and that has made her ruthless. Monica is now not afraid to frame people and blackmail them. One of her victims is also played by Sikander Kher.

Owing to the situation, Sikander’s character offers to murder Monica and Rajkummar’s instantly agrees to that. Being the actor he is, Rajkummar nails the psycho role too. His dialogue, “Darr lag raha hai matlab kya? Mera kya roz ka hai kya yeh?,” is the most impactful in the trailer.

Radhika is the breathing example of ‘Main Itni Sundar Hoon’ meme. She constantly laughs through the trailer, making her role as a tough cop tougher to believe. She single-handedly takes the energy of the trailer down. Thankfully, Rajkummar comes back instantly and salvages it.

The Vasan Bala directorial has managed to bring out the interesting aspects of every actor. Rajkummar is his usual self, Huma goes scary, especially with her “Now we’re in this together” dialogue and Radhika, well, she laughs like a maniac who could also be interesting to watch.

Monica, O My Darling also features Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, Bagavathi Perumal, Sukant Goel and Zayn Marie Khan in important roles. The movie will start streaming on Netflix from November 11, 2022.
