The newest season, Koffee with Karan season 8 unveiled with the power couple of Bollywood, DeepVeer. From the initial dating stage to their dream wedding, actors Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh unveiled special moments of their lives. During one such candid conversation, Deepika opened up about the casual dating scenario and has been facing flak from fans and netizens. However, actor Vir Das raised his voice supporting the Ram-Leela actress.

Recalling their early dating days, Deepika Padukone revealed that she wasn’t ready for commitment due to a previous difficult relationship and Ranveer came into the picture at that time and although they were spending time with each other, both were allowed to see other people, however somehow she always found a way back to him. This ‘casual dating’ remark sparked debates on the internet with many meme pages and fans criticizing the actress for her, “I met other people, but in my mind, I was committed to him,” comment.

Deepika had said, “I wanted to be single for a while because I had come from difficult relationships. I was going through a phase where I said 'I just don't want to be attached, don't want to be committed'. And I had fun! And then he comes along, so I didn't commit, until he proposed to me. There was no 'commitment as such. Even if we were technically allowed to see other people, we would just keep coming back to each other.”

Vir Das takes a stand for Deepika Padukone

Actor-comedian Vir Das clapped back at trollers and hate comments targeting the Cocktail actress for her open relationship remark. Taking to his X (formerly Twitter), he took a dig at haters and said, Moment of silence for all the men who are upset that a Bollywood star way out of their league was casually dating for a while and wasn’t as committed as their imaginary girlfriend is to them.

Deepika will next be seen as Lady Singham “Shakti Shetty” in Singham Again and also opposite Hrithik Roshan in Fighter.
