Mohanlal wishes his ‘Empuraan’ Prithviraj Sukumaran on his birthday, here's the behind-the-scenes footage

Malayalam superstar and director Prithviraj Sukumaran is celebrating his 41st birthday on October 16, and the cast and crew of his current project L2: Empuraan, including Mohanlal, wished the actor on the occasion.

The team shared a video with a few fun wishes, along with some behind-the-scenes snippets from the ongoing Empuraan shoot in Shimla.

While the behind-the-scenes footage mostly revealed how Prithviraj is going about the direction of the hugely-anticipated second instalment of the Lucifer franchise, it also featured a glimpse of the director and superstar Mo hanlal during the shoot.

Mohanlal also chimed in, with the rest of the team, to wish the Ayyappanum Koshiyum actor on his special day, calling him “my Empuraan”.

Another fun wish came from the film’s music director Deepak Dev, who had collaborated with Prithviraj in several other films too including Bro Daddy and has often talked about the actor’s sense of music.

“A happy birthday to my dear friend and my ‘guru’ in music direction,” said Deepak. Murali Gopy, who is the film’s scriptwriter, was his serious self, and his wish also hinted at some of the challenges that the team have been facing since the shoot began on October 5 in Delhi. “Wish you a sunny and cloudless birthday,” he said.

Empuraan shoot to go on till mid 2024

Though the shoot of the big-budget movie, which also has Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Saniya Iyappan and Indrajith Sukumaran reprising their roles from Lucifer, is progressing at break-neck speed, the filming is expected to wrap up only by mid 2024.

A source from the team had earlier told us that Empuraan will have a schedule in April 2024 , during which Saniya, who is currently pursuing her acting course in the UK, is expected to join.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal is currently in Mumbai, shooting for the second schedule of his Telugu-Malayalam bilingual period action drama titled Vrushabha. The actor is expected to join the team of Empuraan later this month at Leh, before flying down to Kochi to be part of November 1 Kerala Piravi Day celebrations.

Mohanlal is also set to wrap up the dubbing of Jeethu Joseph’s Neru, Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Malaikottai Vaalibhan and also the post-production of his directorial debut, Barroz.
