If the latest reports are to be believed, Jana Gana Mana director, Dijo Jose Antony, will soon join hands with Malayalam star Mohanlal. Earlier there were rumours about the Malayalam top producer Listin Stephen doing a film with the actor. Also, actor-producer Prithviraj was rumoured to back three Mohanlal films, helmed by Dijo, Nirmal Sahadev, and Nissam Basheer.
Now according to the same reports, the new Dijo-Mohanlal film will be bankrolled by Listin Stephen under the banner of Magic Frames. Listin had earlier mentioned in an interview with Movie World Media that he plans to do a Mohanlal film and that the scripting work is already completed.
Dijo had earlier directed an advertisement on steel pipes, featuring Mohanlal. The advertisement had Mohanlal in traditional attire, showcasing his wrestling skills. The director was lauded for the advertisement as it portrayed Mohanlal in a mass avatar, reminding his old characters.
Dijo's first film Queen also had a track about Mohanlal, that pays tribute to the star. Jana Gana Mana, the previous film of the director handled subjects like fake encounters, media manipulation and instant justice, and garnered an overwhelming response from the box office. The movie, which starred Prithviraj Sukumaran, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Mamta Mohandas, and Vincy Aloshious, was one of the highest-grossing Malayalam films of 2022. Jana Gana Mana ended with a hint of a possible sequel.
Dijo is currently shooting Nivin Pauly's film, which is tentatively titled NP43. Its first schedule was completed in Dubai, and other locations of the film include Kannur, Kasargode, and parts of Northern India. The film also marks the reunion of Dijo and writer Sharis Mohammed after the success of Jana Gana Mana.
Meanwhile, Mohanlal is currently shooting for his pan-Indian film Vrushabha in Mysuru. The film, helmed by Nandakishore, is touted to be an epic action entertainer with two timelines. Roshan Meka, the Telugu actor was roped in to play the son of Mohanlal in Vrushabha. Along with him, Shanaya Kapoor and singer Zahrah S Khan also play pivotal roles in this movie. Vrushabha is produced by Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms, Connekkt Media, and AVS Studios
