Ever since Ajagajantharam and Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil director Tinu Pappachan had said that he had a story in mind for Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, his fans have been hoping for a collaboration between the two. In fact, Tinu had even pitched his story to Mohanlal last year. However, a final call on the film was yet to be made.

Now, as Mohanlal prepares to attend the launch event of a new production house in Malayalam, Janatta Motion Pictures, in Kochi on January 5, rumours are rife that the team will announce a project with both Mohanlal and Tinu Pappachan. This would satisfy a lot of die-hard fans, who have been waiting with bated breath for the two talents to work together.

When OTTPlay reached out to a source close to the production house, the source said that the team will announce six projects that the producers will be backing. However, a Mohanlal-Tinu Pappachan film is not part of that, said the source, adding that the superstar is part of the event only as a guest.

However, Mohanlal and Tinu will indeed be teaming up this month for another much-awaited project – Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Malaikottai Vaaliban. Tinu will be the chief associate director of the big budget venture, which is gearing up to go on floors in Rajasthan on January 18. The movie, which also has Rajpal Yadav, Danish Sait and Sonalee Kulkarni, is scripted by PS Rafique, with Bollywood actor Vidyut Jammwal rumoured to play the antagonist.

Mohanlal will be busy this year with Malaikottai Vaaliban and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Empuraan. He also has a Telugu-Malayalam bilingual titled Vrushabha. Meanwhile, Tinu has completed shooting Chaaver, which has Kunchacko Boban, Antony Varghese and Arjun Ashokan as part of the cast. The drama-thriller is scripted by Joy Mathew and expected to release in the first quarter of 2023.
