Mohanlal reveals why he signed LJP’s Malaikottai Vaaliban, says ‘it is the first Indian movie...’

Malaikottai Vaaliban, one of the most promising Malayalam films of 2024, is gearing up to hit the theatres on January 25, Thursday. The movie, which stars Mohanlal in the titular role, is set to get a massive release across the globe with a record number of theatres . Recently, the cast and crew members of the film addressed the media in a press meet which was held in Ernakulam, Kerala. Mohanlal, who extensively spoke about Malaikottai Vaaliban, revealed some interesting details behind the making of the film.

Mohanlal reveals why he signed Malaikottai Vaaliban

When he was asked why he decided to sign Malaikottai Vaaliban, the Malayalam superstar had an interesting answer. Mohanlal, who is all excited about the period fantasy drama, stated that a film in this genre is being made for the first time in Indian cinema . The veteran actor revealed that the Lijo Jose Pellissery directorial is not set in a specific timeline or geography, which makes it a unique cinematic experience. According to Mohanlal, this film gave him immense satisfaction as an actor.

The Neru actor revealed that Malaikottai Vaaliban has been a very exciting film when it comes to its craft and added that the period drama is being made on a massive canvas. At the same time, the highly anticipated project also explores many factors including romance, separation, sentiments, joy, revenge, jealousy, and many others, which make it a complete entertainer. However, all these factors are placed in the film in a unique way, which makes it more exciting.

Mohanlal promised that Malaikottai Vaaliban is going to be a never-seen-before cinematic experience for Indian audiences. At the same time, the Lijo Jose Pellissery directorial’s theme is not placed in Kerala specifically. Instead, it can be placed anywhere in India. He added that this unique theme of the movie is enhanced more by many other factors including its costume design, the unique dialect used for dialogues, songs, and most importantly, the storytelling. The proud leading man also added that the cinematography and music of Malaikottai Vaaliban have come out very well .

Mohanlal about teaming up with Lijo Jose Pellissery

The Malayalam superstar revealed that he has watched Lijo Jose Pellissery’s earlier films and stated he has known the filmmaker for a long time. Interestingly, Mohanlal added that he has always admired the filmmaker’s works. According to the veteran actor, they have been actively discussing the possibilities for a collaboration for quite some time. However, nothing materialised until the filmmaker narrated the idea of Malaikottai Vaaliban.
