Mollywood audiences know that every time MG Sreekumar renders his voice for a Mohanlal-starrer, it’s magic! The first track Parayathe Vannen from Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Bro Daddy is the latest example of this collaboration offering yet another peppy and catchy song that is sure to be on repeat mode in many Malayalam playlists.
Composed by Deepak Dev, the song features the vocals of Sreekumar along with Vineeth Sreenivasan. The music video was released through Mohanlal and Prithviraj’s social media pages today.
The visuals of the song shows the two romances in the movie - one with Mohanlal and Meena's characters of John Kattadi and Annamma, and another with their son Eesho, played by Prithviraj. We also get to see the vibrant, urban world where the movie is set, along with Kalyani Priyadarshan's character of Anna. For the keen observants, you can also spot a photo of Sukumaran during a sequence with Mohanlal as well as the superstar watching a movie featuring Sumalatha.
In an earlier video announcing that the song would mark the launch of Aashirvad Cinemas’ record label, Deepak had said, “Bro Daddy is a fun-filled script, a family entertainer, and so Prithviraj’s briefing was to come up with songs that you could enjoy peacefully unlike the thriller mood that Lucifer had.”
The film has three songs and an end title track which uses the theme of the movie. The lead duo has also rendered a song for Bro Daddy. Talking further about Parayathe Vannen, the composer said, “Sreekuttan chettan wasn’t initially planned but when you have Sreekuttan chettan’s voice to go with Lalettan’s naughtiness onscreen, it’s a combination that people have always loved. That’s why we have two singers with Vineeth voicing Prithvi’s portions.” The lyrics of the track are written by Lakshmi Shrikumar.
The music director also said that this was the first song he had composed for the movie and its elements were used in various sequences in the film as well as the trailer. Bro Daddy, scripted by Sreejith N and Bibin Maliekal, has Mohanlal and Prithviraj playing father and son. The movie, which also has Kalyani Priyadarshan, Meena, Kaniha, Unni Mukundan, Soubin Shahir, Lalu Alex and Jagdish, is set to release directly on Disney+ Hotstar on January 26.
