Malayalam superstar Mohanlal on Tuesday completed the shooting of his upcoming movie , which has been titled Malaikottai Vaaliban. And he's quite upbeat about the movie as he expressed a sense of joy and satisfaction in working on this project.
"It was an unbelievable shoot. We were stressed a lot because of the climax shoot. We have done a great job. The movie's commercial success all comes later. But, we have created something that's never been seen on an Indian screen," said Mohanlal, while talking at the party hosted to mark the completion of the production.
The shooting of Malaikottai Vaaliban, directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, began in January and has become one of the longest-shot films in Lijo's career. Known for his quick turnarounds, Lijo completed his breakout movie, Jallikattu, in just 39 days, which went on to become India's official entry for the Oscars in 2021.
With Malaikottai Vaaliban spanning approximately 130 days and featuring different locations across India, it also marks Lijo's highest-budget film to date.
Mohanlal, in a bid to deliver an exceptional performance, has taken his role as a wrestler in the movie seriously. Reports suggest that the 62-year-old star had dedicated himself to intense workouts, even on shoot days, showcasing his dedication to the character. His muscular transformation is evident in his latest photos.
The film is anticipated to revitalize Mohanlal's career, as he has faced recent setbacks with his last few movies receiving poor reception both commercially and critically. Fans are hopeful that Malaikottai Vaaliban will break the streak of disappointments.
Director Lijo's previous film, Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, featuring superstar Mammootty, achieved immense critical acclaim. Inspired by an old advertisement , the film garnered international recognition and acclaim, raising expectations for his latest venture.
Malaikottai Vaaliban also stars Danish Sait, Sonalee Kulkarni, Hareesh Peradi and Katha Nandi in pivotal roles.
