Neru, helmed by Jeethu Joseph and starring Mohanlal has grabbed attention lately due to the reunion of the hit duo after their movie 12th Man. The courtroom drama began filming recently, and Mohanlal shared pictures of the puja function on his social media. The actor was not present at the set during the puja as he was busy shooting for Vrushabha. However, the latest news is that Mohanlal has now joined the cast and crew of Neru in Thiruvananthapuram after completing the first schedule of his pan-Indian epic actioner Vrushabha.
Neru is touted to be a courtroom drama scripted by Santhi Mayadevi, who is best known for her role as a lawyer in the hit sequel, Drishyam 2. Santhi will also be appearing in the highly anticipated movie, Leo, alongside Vijay directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
Priyamani is set to play the female lead in Neru, which marks her reunion with Mohanlal after their previous collaboration in Grandmaster. Aashirvad Cinemas, known for backing successful films such as the Drishyam franchise and 12th Man of Jeethu Joseph, will produce Neru. The title poster of the film was recently released, featuring a Brailee book, the Lady of Justice, and a gavel.
Neru marks Jeethu's fifth collaboration with the legendary actor Mohanlal. The shooting of his previous film with the actor, Ram was stalled due to various reasons. Ram is a big-budget action film that has remaining portions to be shot in different countries. The film includes an ensemble cast, including Trisha, Indrajith, and Durga Krishna.
After completing Neru, Mohanlal will be joining the cast of Empuraan which is scheduled to start in October and the first schedule will take place in Delhi and Ladakh. Empuraan is the sequel to the blockbuster movie, Lucifer, and is directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran. This movie is one of the most anticipated and biggest projects in Mohanlal's career.
Mohanlal's debut directorial, Barroz is almost confirmed to hit theatres on December 21 . The film is currently in post-production, happening in various parts of the world. Barroz, which is expected to be a visual treat will be released in over 60 countries.
