Mohanlal-Jeethu Joseph’s film Ram Part 1 to release in mid 2024? Here’s what we know

Shooting for celebrated actor-director duo Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph’s highly anticipated film Ram: Part 1 is kept on hold as the superstar has been busy with prior commitments. However, latest reports suggest that the movie is likely to go on floors soon. Touted to be an action thriller, Ram will be released in two parts. 

Shooting for Ram to start during L2E: Empuraan’s second schedule break

Mohanlal who is currently on a break at New Zealand will resume shooting for Ram during Empuraan second schedule break. Earlier, due to financial contrains and lack of permission to shoot in few locations abroad, the Jeethu Joseph film was put on hold.

As per reports, the makers of the film are also likely to be roping in a ‘star’, who will play an important role in the Jeethu Joseph directorial. Speculations suggest that Ram: Part 1 will be released in mid 2024.

OTT rights of Ram purchased for a whopping amount

According to few other sources, Ram’s OTT rights have been bagged by Amazon Prime Video, which had previously purchased the rights for the actor-director duo’s Drishyam 2. In 2020, when the streaming platform bought the rights for Drishyam, they had apparently paid a huge amount (rumoured to be around ₹20 crores – the highest for a Malayalam movie then). Prime Video has reportedly also paid a whopping amount for Ram’s OTT rights. The Mohanlal-starrer is expected to be released in multiple languages. However, there isn't any official confiration made so far.

Ram to be a star-studded action thriller film

The pan-Indian film also features Adil Hussain, Trisha Krishnan, Samyukhta Menon and Indrajith Sukumaran in pivotal roles. Ram is bankrolled by Peacock Film Production, Abhishek Films and Passion Studios, under the banner of Bliss Entertainments and Movies. Music is scored by Vishnu Shyam, while the camerawork is handled by Satheesh Kurup.

Mohanlal to play a RAW agent in Ram

According to a report, the film follows Ram (Mohanlal), who is a RAW agent. He is informed by the agency to deal with Bael, a terrorist group that possesses nuclear weapons capable of destroying India. Many users pointed out that the leaked plot is similar to Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan. Nonetheless, viewers may have to wait for further inputs from the film’s team.
