While Pranav Mohanlal was the heart and soul of Vineeth Sreenivasan’s superhit coming-of-age romantic drama Hridayam, the actor was conspicuous by his absence during the promotions of the movie, which was largely spearheaded by the director and its supporting cast.

In a recent interview, Mohanlal opened up about why son Pranav is usually missing from the promotions. “I was also like that during the initial phase of my career. I am also shy but Pranav is even more reticent,” said the superstar to Manorama News.

Mohanlal clarified that his personality, however, doesn’t affect the life he leads. He also can’t respond to interview questions with as much ease as others. “He is that sort of a person, who is more reserved than introverted. If you ask him to go for an interview, he would reply, ‘Why should I?’ And that’s a big question,” said Mohanlal.

Hridayam, which has completed 25 days, is set to release on Disney+ Hotstar on the very same day that Mohanlal’s Aaraattu hits theatres. Hridayam crossed Rs 50 Cr in box office collection worldwide since its release a few days ago. In fact, the Vineeth Sreenivasan directorial will also be running in theatres despite its OTT release.

While Pranav, who had acted in Jeethu Joseph’s Aadhi and Arun Gopy’s Irupathiyonnam Noottaaadu, has always been shy giving interviews, the actor does make his presence felt during the launch events of his movies.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal’s Aaraattu is gearing up to be the biggest Malayalam release this year. The movie, which is set to release in over 1600 screens in 52 countries, is Mohanlal’s second theatrical release since the pandemic after Priyadarshan’s magnum opus Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, which also had Pranav playing the younger version of the titular character.

Aaraattu, scripted by Udaykrishna, also has Shraddha Srinath, Ramachandra Raju, Sidhique, Saikumar and Johny Antony as part of the cast.
