It has been a busy few weeks for Mollywood superstar Mohanlal, who has been shuttling between the promotions of his recent release Aaraattu, his directorial debut Barroz: Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure and the dubbing of Jeethu Joseph’s 12th Man.
The latest, we hear, is that Mohanlal has completed dubbing his portions for the movie, which marks his fourth collaboration with Jeethu after Drishyam, the yet-to-be-completed action-thriller Ram and last year’s much-acclaimed Drishyam 2.
Mohanlal had completed dubbing for the movie last week. The film, scripted by KR Krishna Kumar, is a multi-starrer that also has Sshivada, Unni Mukundan, Saiju Kurup, Anu Mohan, Chandunath, Veena Nandakumar, Rahul Madhav, Leona Lishoy and Priyanka Nair.
Jeethu in an earlier interview with OTTplay had revealed that the film is more of a mystery-drama that draws parallels to Agatha Christie’s novels. The film revolves around 12 people, with about 90% of the movie shot in a single location.
The film, meanwhile, will be a direct-to-OTT release . Mohanlal had confirmed this to OTTplay last year and now inside sources reveals that the producers sold the digital rights for the movie to Disney+ Hotstar, which had also released Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Bro Daddy in January. The release date of 12thMan is yet to be confirmed but it’s expected to be in April, with the streaming platform set to release Manju Warrier and Biju Menon’s Lalitham Sundaram in March.
In the meantime, Jeethu has started the filming of Kooman , which is a thriller starring Asif Ali. The movie, which is also scripted by Krishna Kumar, will mark the first collaboration between the actor and the filmmaker.
Mohanlal will be busy with Barroz till April 14 and will take a call on his next projects only after that. He has a Tinu Pappachan directorial lined up, along with the task of completing Jeethu’s Ram this year.
