Mohanlal and Shobana to reunite for Anoop Sathyan directorial; Naseeruddin Shah, Mukesh to join?

Mohanlal and Shobana, the Malayalam superstar and the National Award-winning actress, are one of the most loved star pairs in Malayalam cinema. For the uninitiated, the veteran actors have shared the screen on around 55 films, over the last four decades of their careers. Now, the latest reports suggest that Mohanlal and Shobana are now finally set to reunite for a project, after a long gap of 15 years, for the upcoming project directed by Anoop Sathyan.

Mohanlal and Shobana’s upcoming project

The reports about the much-awaited project initially started doing the rounds in 2022. It was also reported that Mukesh and Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah (on his second Malayalam outing, after Ponthan Mada), will join the star cast of the untitled film. However, the much-awaited project was put on hold for undisclosed reasons. But now, reports suggest that the multi-starrer has been revived.

According to recent updates, director Anoop Sathyan, who is also writing the script for the film, is now busy reworking the script along with his team. The reports suggest that the storyline of the highly anticipated project has undergone some major changes. However, it has been confirmed that the star cast will remain the same. The grapevine suggests that Mohanlal and Shobana will appear in the lead roles in the untitled film, which will star Naseeruddin Shah and Mukesh in key roles.

If things go as planned, the highly anticipated multi-starrer, which is touted to be a road movie, will have its official launch very soon. The project is expected to go on the floor after the Malaikottai Vaaliban actor wraps up the shooting of his upcoming films. More updates on the rest of the star cast and technical crew of the untitled movie are also expected to be out very soon.

Mohanlal’s massive line-up

The Malayalam superstar is busy in his career, with some highly promising projects in the pipeline. He will be next seen in L2 Empuraan, the upcoming Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial which is expected to hit screens by the first quarter of 2025. Mohanlal is reuniting with Sathyan Anthikad as a family entertainer soon. He is also set to team up with Priyadarshan once again as an untitled comedy entertainer. The veteran actor is also teaming up with Joshiy for an action thriller titled Rambaan.
