Mohanlal is reportedly all set to reunite with popular filmmaker Anwar Rasheed, for an upcoming entertainer. The duo’s previous outing, Chotta Mumbai, was released in 2007.

Mohanlal is currently on a signing spree, and has an exciting line-up of projects in his kitty. The Malayalam superstar is all set to bounce back after the massive failure of Malaikottai Vaaliban, with his upcoming projects, L2 Empuraan and L360. In a recent interview, the veteran actor revealed that he is open to collaborations with both the young talents and seniors of the industry. Now, the latest updates suggest that Mohanlal might reunite with Chotta Mumbai director Anwar Rasheed soon.
The reports on Mohanlal and Anwar Rasheed’s upcoming second collaboration has been doing rounds on social media, lately. According to the latest updates, both the Malayalam superstar and the supremely talented filmmaker have been signed on to collaborate with the popular Malayalam production banner Weekend Blockbusters, headed by Sophia Paul. Now, the rumourmills suggests that the production banner is planning to bankroll the next directorial venture of Anwar Rasheed, and Mohanlal is said to be in talks to play the lead role in the project.
In that case, the upcoming project will mark the veteran actor’s second collaboration with the hitmaker, after a long gap of 17 years. The actor-director duo’s first and only project, Chotta Mumbai, is still considered as one of the finest action-comedy films, ever produced in the Malayalam film industry. The movie, which features Mohanlal as the central character Vasco Da Gama aka Thala, a Mattanchery-based local goon, is available for streaming on Sun NXT and OTTplay Premium.
As you may know, Mohanlal is currently busy with the filming of two of his upcoming projects – Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial L2 Empuraan, and Tharun Moorthy’s film which is tentatively titled L360. After wrapping up both the films, the superstar will reunite with senior filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad, for the upcoming family entertainer Hridaya Poorvam. He is also roped in to play a pivotal role in the untitled Mammootty starrer, directed by Mahesh Narayanan. Mohanlal might also team up with director Krishand for an upcoming crime thriller, soon.
