Mithun Chakraborty had a cerebral stroke and was admitted to a private hospital on EM Bypass. He fell ill while shooting the film Shastri. The film's producer and Mithun's co-actor Soham Chakraborty was present on the set. He promptly carried the superstar to the hospital by driving his car. The hospital released a statement and disclosed Mithun's condition. It says the actor had an ischemic stroke but is keeping well. Debashree Roy, Raj Chakraborty, and Dev came to the hospital. The BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar came to see Mithun on Sunday. The photo and the video of that meeting came out.
Mithun was lying on the hospital bed and seemed jolly. He wore the patient's dress and a black cap. He asked the doctors about the treatment. In the video, the doctor says in Hindi that everything is alright, he is under medication, and Mithun is drinking enough water. Then Mithun pointed to his leg and tried to explain something.
Sukanta Majumdar and others encircled the bed at that time. Sourav Ganguly also came to meet Mithun on Sunday. Mithun told Sukanta, “It would be good if I could start work from tomorrow.”
On Sunday evening, the hospital released another statement saying that Mithun keeps well and takes a soft diet. He was under observation and advised to rest. Before the release, he will undergo the necessary tests.
On Saturday, the hospital released the first statement which said ''Shri Mithun Chakraborty, 73, National Award-winning actor, was brought to the Emergency Department of Apollo Multispecialty Hospitals, Kolkata, around 9.40 AM with complaints of weakness in the right upper and lower limbs. Necessary laboratory and radiology investigations were carried out including an MRI of the brain. He has been diagnosed with an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (stroke) of the brain. Presently, he is fully conscious, well-oriented, and has consumed a soft diet'. The statement also said that Mithun is under treatment by a medical board that includes a neuro-physicist, a cardiologist, and a gastroenterologist.
