The seventh and potentially penultimate Mission Impossible film is arriving in cinema halls this July with Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt pledging his life for what seems like the toughest and deadliest challenge yet.
The first trailer of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One finally dropped and the film promises to be every bit the adrenaline rush that one expects it to be. Cruise might be 60 years old but his age certainly doesn't stop him from taking on the world as he runs, gallops and then plunges into the greatest depths of danger.
He is, of course, ably supported by the members of the Impossible Mission Force, or the IMF, in the form of Ilsa Faust (played by Rebecca Ferguson), Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg), Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames) and Eugene Kittridge (Henry Czerny). Also reprising her role is English actress Vanessa Kirby, who returns as the black-market arms dealer 'White Widow' Alanna Mitsopolis. Frederick Schmidt returns Zola Mitsopolis, Alanna's brother.
The very talented Shea Whigham joins the cast to play Jasper Briggs with Hayley Atwell, whose character Grace is described as a 'destructive force of nature' by writer-director Christopher McQuarrie, too, is part of the new ensemble. Esai Morales plays Gabriel in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, the primary antagonist.
Christopher McQuarrie, who has now worked with Tom Cruise on more than 10 films in the capacities of both a screenwriter and director, returns to direct his fifth straight Mission Impossible film.
As far as the storyline of the upcoming film is concerned, the current synopsis available on the web reveals that Cruise's Ethan Hunt, along with team IMF, must embark on a mission to track down a 'terrifying new weapon' and stop it from reaching the wrong hands. Alongside, he is also forced to tackle the demons of his past to make this the most dangerous mission yet. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two, which is slated to release worldwide on June 28, 2024, is expected to take the narrative of Part One forward and bring Hunt's story to closure.
