Directed by Akarsh Khurana, Mismatched Season 2 follows the story after the cliffhanger of Season 1, which left everyone guessing who leaked Dimple and Harsh’s app, AntiSosh. It begins with a perplexed Dimple trying to resolve her messy romantic and professional lives.
Season 1 ended with a surprise twist after Dimple kissed Harsh in the corridor, followed by her bitter breakup with Rishi and getting her app idea stolen by someone. It delves into the intricate romantic relationships of the summer interns as they follow their dreams while navigating their personal crises. While Dimple dealt with her anxiety, love triangle, and aspirations as a developer, Rishi, Anmol, Celine, and Namrata grappled to deal with their own issues.
Mismatched Season 2 laregly explores the romantic triangle of Dimple, Rishi, and Harsh as they struggle with their complex relationships and feelings for one another. After Dimple and Harsh’s sudden kiss, they began spending time together, leading to a strong bond and friendship. They even have some casual sex while trying to resolve their inner feelings for one another.
Rishi also goes through different phases after his breakup with Dimple. He begins a brief relationship with his father’s assistant, Sanskriti, as their attraction grows over time. However, in the end, Dimple eventually realises her true feelings for Rishi, and the duo confesses their love to each other. The last episode also shows Dimple and Rishi's romantic hot-air balloon date as they kiss to mark their reunion.
The ending of Mismatched Season 2 shows Dimple learning the shocking truth about who leaked her app code and sold it to a third party. Namrata reveals that Celine stole her AntiSosh code as a part of Krish and Simran’s wicked plan. Later, it is further revealed that Celine stole the code after Krish and Simran blackmailed her and told her that they would reveal her secret life as a food delivery girl. They also strike a deal to pay her Rs 25,000 if she successfully steals Dimple’s app, which would help her pay her hostel fees. Dimple then breaks her friendship with Celine and lashes out at her for the heart-shattering betrayal.
Mismatched's second season has a surprise ending with something in store for each character. From different themes to the gripping end, this romantic drama grabbed attention and remains a binge-worthy web series. The last episode delves into the future of the young aspirants as they await their big opportunity by giving their best for the elite internship of Nandini Nahata. When Dimple and Rishi were having their best moments and celebrating their reunion on a cute romantic date, their fate took a turn as the interviewer reached the institution before the scheduled time and derailed the plans of all the aspirants. Celine pays back for her betrayal by buying Dimple and Rishi time as she keeps Nandini engaged with her curious questions.
However, despite all her efforts, Nandini gets to know that both Rishi and Dimple are late for the interview. While she is impressed with Rishi’s creative vision, she is not happy with Dimple and doesn’t even take much interest in her interview. Since she is Dimple’s idol, this breaks her heart as she grapples to balance her private and professional life.
The unconventional ending of Mismatched Season 2 sees all the students enjoying their farewell party as they delve into their nostalgic moments and make peace with each other. For instance, Krish and Simran break up and Anmol finds a friend and confidante in a girl he meets during a support group event.
The ending shows Dimple being heartbroken as she pushes Rishi to follow his dreams after the final announcement that the four students chosen for the internship exclude Dimple but, surprisingly, also Rishi and Celine. Will Dimple still follow her dreams of becoming a developer or will choose a different path? Only season 3 can answer this!
