Mirzapur 3: Pankaj Tripathi says he feels ‘powerful’ as Kaleen Bhaiya

Mirzapur is gearing up for another exciting season of action, crime and drama. Pankaj Tripathi is all set to reprise his role as the fierce Kaleen Bhaiya. The actor recently opened up about getting into the shoes of the character again for the show’s new season.

In conversation with PTI, Tripathi said that he was well aware of fans’ excitement for the series. The actor said that he would soon start on the costume trail for the new season as well as read the script. Filming would start within a week. Talking about how excited he was to reprise his role as Kaleen Bhaiya again, Tripathi said that working on the show was a ‘lot of fun’.

Calling himself a ‘powerless’ man in real life, the actor talked about how essaying the role of Kaleen Bhaiya gave him a chance to experience real power. “The hunger for power, which is there in everyone, gets satiated through Mirzapur”, he said.

The actor is currently awaiting the release of his film, Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga, which also stars Sayani Gupta and Neeraj Kabi. The film, written and directed by Srijit Mukherji, is scheduled for release on June 24. The actor compared his character in the film, named Gangaram, to that of Kaleen Bhaiya’s. Tripathi said that the duo were opposites, as the former was ‘powerless’ while Kaleen Bhaiya was ‘powerful’. While one won't notice Gangaram, one cannot ignore Kaleen Bhaiya.

In addition to Tripathi, Mirzapur also features Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi Sharma, Rasika Dugal,Vijay Varma and Isha Talwar

The first two seasons of Mirzapur can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
