Sophia Paul, the producer of the first Malayalam superhero film, Minnal Murali, which had Tovino Thomas in the lead role, has announced that the comic version of the movie will be published in Tinkle magazine by the end of 2023.
Plot of the Minnal Murali comic is yet to be determined
Speaking about the comic while commenting on the success of her latest venture, RDX, to Club FM channel, Sophia said that the plot of the comic will be determined only after several discussions with Spirit Media and Amar Chitra Katha, which are yet to begin. She added that Amar Chitra Katha is receptive to input from the film's production team.
She also shared her experience of visiting San Diego Comic-Con, where she was proud to see Minnal Murali with other superheroes. "I did not know about the event but decided to attend it after my sons told me to go. The San Diego Comic-Con is like a festival, and some people attend the function in costumes. The first glimpse of Prabhas' Kalki 2898 AD was released at that event. It was a proud moment to see Minnal Murali among the other superheroes there," Sophia Paul told Club FM.
Minnal Murali sequel
Minnal Murali producers and director Basil Joseph have confirmed a sequel to Minnal Murali. While details about the shoot, script, and budget have not been finalised yet, the makers an d producers are determined to release the film in theatres.
Minnal Murali was a direct-to-OTT release in December 2021 due to the second COVID-19-induced lockdown. The film received global attention and was placed on Netflix's Global Ten List for months after its release.

Starring Tovino Thomas as the titular character, Minnal Murali revolves around a local tailor who gets some superpowers after being hit by a bolt of lightning. Shibu Somasundram played the villain of the desi superhero in the film. Aju Varghese, Mamukkoya, Harisree Ashokan, Femina George, and Arya Salim also played pivotal roles in the film.
