Mimi Chakraborty has already awed her fans in her IPS Sanjukta Mitra’s avatar. By her admission, the directors – Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy – asked her to be herself to play the character. With Abir Chatterjee, Victor Banerjee, and others in the lead, the film will hit the theatre on October 19.
In a chat with OTT play, Mimi explained her journey in Raktabeej. She said that her brief was to be herself. The directors further suggested that the character is more or less like her in real-life and she did not have to change her body language, etc. "I was also told that there was nothing in the film that I couldn’t do," said the actress. Mimi revealed that the directors told her that this character is meant for her and she became sure when she got the script.
Mimi went through the preparations to get into the character. She read the script a number of times to understand the character more perfectly. “Sanjukta Mitra is a no-nonsense character. She is a tough woman in the male world,” she said.
Mimi rode a Bullet bike in the film and she took training for that. She rode a Bullet in Purulia once upon a time. However, it was very different from that time. "That was probably 10 years ago," she recalled. The actress confessed that riding a Bullet on the road gives a kind of 'adrenaline rush'. "Bullet is not like any other bike. It is very very heavy," she said. After a point, her wrist was aching, she recalled. The bike riding was not just a random scene. There were dislogues and action. Mimi remembered, "You have so many cameras in front of you and you know you cannot go wrong." She delivered her dialogues with right pauses and expression. "The bike ride in Raktabeej was not a beauty shot. It is there because we have a whole scene on that. So doing that scene wasn’t easy," said the actress and admitted that it was fun.
