Bollywood star John Abraham’s debut Malayalam production Mike, which had Anaswara Rajan and Ranjith Sajeev in the lead, is finally dropping on OTTs. The movie, which is helmed by debutant Vishnu Sivaprasad, hit theatres in August.
Apart from the young actors, the coming-of-age tale also had Jinu Joseph, Rohini, Akshay Radhakrishnan, Abhiram Radhakrishnan and Dayyana Hameed in pivotal roles. Hesham Abdul Wahab was the composer of the movie, which had Renadive as its cinematographer.
The film revolves around Sara Thomas, who decides to opt for a sex reassignment surgery, after facing a series of hurdlers because of her gender. Her path crosses with that of a depressed youngster, who is bent on ending his life after a tragic past. How the duo brings about a change in each other’s lives form the plot of the film, which is scripted by Aashiq Akbar Ali. The writer had previously scripted Anson Paul’s campus drama Kala Viplavam Pranayam.
Mike marked Anaswara’s second film as the protagonist this year after the sleeper hit Super Sharanya, which is currently streaming on ZEE5. The John Abraham Entertainment production will begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video and Manorama Max during the Diwali weekend. Mike’s OTT release date has been set on October 21.
The movie had wrapped up its shoot earlier this year in Kuttikanam. Mysore, Kattapana, Vaikom and Dharamsala were some of the other locations of the film, which began shooting in October 2021. John, who is half Malayali, had visited Kerala twice as part of the film’s promotions and even entertained the thought of doing a Malayalam film, but only if he gets to learn and understand the language well before he performs.
Meanwhile, John has completed his portions for the Bollywood remake of Ayyappanum Koshiyum, which also has Arjun Kapoor in the lead. The actor is busy with Tehran now.
