MG Srinivas on Ghost: The special video ‘Big Daddy’ on Shivarajkumar’s birthday will kickstart promotions of the film

Actor-filmmaker MG Srinivas is currently in the middle of pre-production of his film, Ghost, with Century Star Shivarajkumar in the lead. “The plan was to aim for a Varamahalakshmi habba release on August 25, but the problem is that there is still a lot of work left on the post-production of the film. To be specific, the VFX work is taking time. Ghost has approximately 1,800 shots of VFX, which we are getting done in Tehran, but it looks doubtful that the work will be completed in time for a Varamahalakshmi release. I think September-October looks like a better window for us, but we will freeze on a date only once we have clarity on the status of post-production,” he clarifies, adding, “We are not in a hurry to release the film, but sometime around Dasara or even earlier, might be nice. We will, of course, have to present our film well not just in the making, but in promotions too. Also, we will have to take into consideration other Kannada films that are looking at similar release windows and plan our date accordingly.”

The VFX work, adds Srini, is what he is most anxious about, because quality matters, considering that the film will have shots of a de-aged Shivarajkumar. “We can’t compromise on quality and ask for a rush job just to be able to release on a certain date. But once that is done, we will be on course for release,” he says.

While the release date is still being planned, Srini (as the filmmaker is called), is ready to begin publicity, starting with a special video that will be out on Shivarajkumar’s birthday, on July 12. “On social media, people have been saying that it is a teaser, but honestly, it is not like a teaser or trailer. We are launching a video called ‘Big Daddy’, which is from the film. It will be similar to a teaser, and yet, it’s not it. An actual teaser, trailer and the songs, etc., will be released in due course of time. We are still trying to figure out when and how to take things forward, but officially, promotions of Ghost start on July 12,” he says.

This time, Srini is looking at travelling across the state with the film. “The teaser, trailer, songs and pre-release events will be released in different places, the schedule of which we will announce shortly,” he says.
