The teaser of Meiyazhagan, the upcoming Tamil film starring actors Karthi and Arvind Swamy in the lead roles, was released by the makers on social media on Saturday. The film is all set to hit theatres on September 27.

The teaser begins with a train coming to the Thanjavur station. In the next shot, we see Arvind Swamy whose eyes are covered by Karthi who asks to guess who he is, at a marriage hall. We come to know that they are cousins, with the former sporting an unhappy look. The teaser continues to show various conversations between both the men, one being chirpy while other being silent. At the end, we see Arvind Swamy losing his patience.

Meiyazhagan is directed by filmmaker Prem Kumar, who previously helmed the critically acclaimed romantic drama 96, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha. The upcoming film marks Prem Kumar’s second directorial and first collaboration with Karthi.

Apart from Karthi, the film also stars Arvind Swamy and Sri Divya. Meiyazhagan makers released a new poster that shows Karthi along with a bull, which is known to participate in Jallikattu.

Meiyazhagan is backed by Karthi's brother, actor Suriya, and his sister-in-law, actor Jyotika, under their home banner, 2D Entertainment. The shooting for Meiyazhagan has been wrapped up. The technical crew consists of cinematographer Mahendiran Jayaraju and Govind Vasantha has scored the music. Govindaraj has edited the film.

Actors Karunakaran, Rajkiran, Jayaprakash, and Swati Konde are also part of cast of Meiyazhagan. The film was shot in locations in Tamil Nadu, including Karaikudi, Kumbakonam, and other places. It is also to be noted that the film shot in sync sound method and will be the actor's second outing in a similar fashion after Kaatru Veliyidai.

The film is touted to be a family entertainer, with the plot yet to be revealed.
