From Krishna Gadi Veera Prema Gadha to F3, Mehreen Pirzada has continuously evolved as an actor in the previous decade. She has the right screen presence, comic timing with her roles and is backed by good work ethic. The actress joins hands with a debutant Vikranth for her next - Spark, that releases in theatres on November 17.
Teaming up with Vikranth
We learn a lot by associating with newcomers and seasoned artistes. Vikranth expressed his interest to act and direct me for Spark. I listened to the script and said yes. I really liked the research behind the story. My look and character will be fresh. I haven’t seen the full film yet. I loved how the songs were picturised and of course, my look. Vikranth fulfilled his duties well, I must say.
Playing Lekha in Spark
I play a girl named Lekha in the film and the role is extremely significant in the story. The film begins and also ends with my role. It was refreshing to work in a thriller. Lekha is close to me in real life, she is dreamy eyed and can go to any extent to reach her goals. The characterisation struck a chord with me. Vikranth wrote the film based on true incidents in the US. It has all the commercial ingredients to perform well.
On Vikranth’s efforts for Spark
Vikranth left a cushy job in the US to chase his dreams in the film industry. While we had another director in mind initially, he chose to direct it later. It’s quite a challenge to act and direct with your very first film but he was determined to pull this off. I have not seen a debutant work so hard on a film. He will impress in both his roles - as an actor and a storyteller.
Her approach to work and upcoming films
I treat every project equally and say yes to it only if I like the script and my role. Spark will definitely help my career. My fans and audiences are my inspiration to progress in the film. I give my 200% to every role I get. I find it special when audiences recollect my role at promotional events - you can see the ‘spark’ on my face (laughs).
I am working on another thriller in Tamil with Vasanth Ravi, also helmed by a first-time director. I am confident it’ll be liked by audiences.
