The renowned American quarterback, Derek Carr, who has made numerous records for his club New Orleans Saints, has been married to his high school lover Heather Neel for the past 10 years. No doubt, Derek Carr is a happily married man!
The couple tied the knot in 2012 and have four children together, Deakon, Deker, Dallas and Brooklyn.
Carr's professional football career began in 2014 when he was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the second round of the NFL Draft. He spent nine seasons with the Raiders, helping them reach the playoffs twice. In 2023, Carr was traded to the New Orleans Saints, where he is currently playing his first season.
Not only an outstanding quarterback, Derek is also a good leader and has a reputation for being a good teammate. He is excited to be in New Orleans and is looking forward to helping the Saints win a championship.
How did Derek and Heather meet?
Surprisingly even though Derek and Heather are childhood sweethearts and Neel has also been a cheerleader in college, the duo did not meet on the field! Carr and Neel both were superb athletes since their college days. But it was when Derek visited a restaurant, where Heather used to work, their eyes met and they fell in love.
Back in 2013, while recalling her first interaction with Derek, Heather shared to ABC7 that she was initially not impressed with Carr because of his cheesy flirting. Interestingly, the 32-year-old player had shared that that moment he met Neel, he knew they were going to get married soon.
How dreamy isn't it?
Guess what? They met in 2009 and tied the knot in 2012, after enjoying a lovey-dovey relationship for 3 years.
What exactly Heather told to ABC7?
"I had like diamond earrings in my ear and I had them both, I knew I did. And he said, "Why are you only wearing one earring?" Heather shared to ABC7. "And it made me check my ears. And I was like, "that's your pick up line?" (It worked) it did work. I talked to him."
