After months of speculations of Anushka Sharma being pregnant, the power couple Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma have put to rest all the rumours by announcing the arrival of their son, Akaay Kohli on Instagram.
Anushka took to her Instagram handle and wrote, “We are pleased to announce everyone that on 15th February, we welcomed our baby boy Akaay and Vamika’s little brother into this world.”
Meaning of Akaay
For those who don’t know, the meaning of Akaay is ‘shining moon.’
Fans were quick to take note of this post and congratulated the couple for the arrival of their son. Actress Alia Bhatt commented on the post and wrote, “How beautiful! Congratulations”, while Sunny Chopra wrote, “Congratulations favourites.”
Looking back, Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli had tied the knot in 2017 in a lavish wedding that took place in Italy which set the trend for many of the ‘big fat Indian weddings.’ The couple welcomed their firstborn- a baby girl whom they named Vamika in 2021. Vamika is another name of Goddess Durga which is also a combination of Anushka and Virat’s name.
News surrounding Anushka’s pregnancy
The news surrounding Anushka Sharma’s pregnancy was on the rise for months after the actress was seen with a baby bump while attending the World Cup. Later, the South African player AB de Villiers ended many a speculation while revealing on his YouTube channel that the star couple was expecting their second child this year.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, the South African cricketer AB de Villiers said, Yes, his second child is on the way. Yes, it's family time and things are important to him. If you are not true and genuine to yourself, you lose track of what you are here for. I think most people's priority is family. You can't judge Virat for that. Yes, we miss him. But he has made absolutely the right decision”.
Later, Villiers acknowledged that he made a mistake by calling the information false.
Recently there was also news that the actress will have her baby delivered in London after the well-known industrialist Harsh Goenka took to his X handle recently and claimed that ‘a baby is going to be born in a few days’. Without naming Virat or Anushka, he wrote, “A new baby is to be born in the next few days! Hope the baby takes India to great heights like the greatest cricketing father. Or will it follow the mother and be a film star?”
