Remember that teen-comedy from the early 2000s, which not only made our teenage days memorable, but will also remain an evergreen in our hearts? Yes I'm talking about Mean Girls! Although back in 2004, it did not receive much hype, these days, Mean Girls has become one of the most cherished movies of all time.
Mean Girls story
It's a story about a teenage girl, Cady (Lindsay Lohan), who joins a new school in the US, after coming back from Africa. This is the first time she would be going to a public school with a bunch of other students. Before that she was homeschooled. In the news school, she makes new friends Janis and Damian. Twists start to tickle her life when she joins the famous group of mean girls, led by Regina (Rachel McAdams) and things get worse when she falls in love with Aaron, who is the ex-boyfriend of Regina.
However, to rejuvenate all the sweet and sour memories, Walmart has planned to bring back the mean girls together, after a long 19 years of gap. This new campaign is organised to promote Walmart's hot holiday deals.
About Walmart advertisement
Today the company has finally dropped the much awaited commercial on YouTube, which shows Lindsay playing as guidance counsellor Cady Heron, weather reporter Karen Smith (Amanda Seyfried), stage mom Gretchen Wieners (Lacey Chabert), proud dad Kevin Gnapoor (Rajiv Surendra) and bestie Damian (Daniel Franzese) have returned to North Shore High School where a new group of mean girls rule the halls.
In the video, Cady says, “Some things never change. On Wednesdays we wear pink, but now we shop Walmart Black Friday deals” while pulling up convertible Walmart shopping bags. The advertisement also makes our memory fresh by showing the famous Santa Claus dance on stage along with Karen’s air-headed weather reports to the famous Jingle Bell Rock song.
Walmart's motto
Walmart is mainly famous for Black Fridays. According to Courtney Carlson, Walmart’s senior vice president of marketing, the advertisement is launched on Wednesday because the mean girls wear pink on Wednesdays and Walmart wants its customers to pay early attention to holiday shopping with great deals and prices, ahead of the actual Black Friday.
