Viraj Ashwin, who forayed as an actor with Anaganaga O Prema Katha, went onto make in mark in Thank You Brother, the direct-to-OTT release Valliddari Madhya and scored a huge blockbuster in the form of Baby (which also featured Anand Deverakonda, Vaishnavi Chaitanya). Before Baby hit screens, he had another release, the new-age drama Mayapetika, helmed by Ramesh Raparthi.

Mayapetika released in theatres on June 30. Simrat Kaur, Payal Rajput played the female leads in the film that also starred Rajath Raghav, Sunil, Prudhvi Raj, Srinivas Reddy, Himaja, and Syamala Are. Magunta Sarath Chandra Reddy and Tharaknath Bommi Reddy bankrolled the project under Just Ordinary Entertainments. The film received mixed reviews from critics.

Two months after its theatrical release, the film, which had a modest run at the box office, is out on OTT. Noted streaming platform aha acquired its post-theatrical streaming rights and decided to premiere the film this Friday i.e. September 15. Mayapetika is an anthology of six short stories interconnected through a mobile phone.

Each of these stories in Mayapetika has a connection with the socio-economic condition of the pivotal characters in the city and the mobile changes hands from one family to another each passing day. How they react to it and how does the mobile change their lives? Watch the film on aha to know more. Suresh Ragutu is the cinematographer for the film while Guna Balasubramanian is the composer.

The crew comprises art director Purushottam. Mayapetika had two editors - D Venkata Prabhu and Nav Cuts. Magunta Venkata Narayana Reddy is the presenter. “Mayapetika has an interesting concept but the lack of seriousness in the narration spoils the movie-watching experience for the audience. Barring a few comedy scenes featuring Sunil and a sincere performance by Srinivasa Reddy, this film has nothing new to offer,” OTTplay.com's critic wrote.
