MaXXXine OTT release date in India: Here's when and where you can stream Mia Goth's gripping return in Ti West's horror trilogy

MaXXXine will launch on OTT in India exactly six months after its theatrical release. Beginning tomorrow, that is, January 5, 2025, the horror flick will begin streaming on JioCinema (OTTplay Premium). Ti West, who also served as producer, editor, and writer, is the director of MaXXXine. Following X and Pearl (both 2022), it is the third instalment in West's X film trilogy and serves as a direct sequel to the first. Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Halsey, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito, and Kevin Bacon are among the stars returning to X with Mia Goth as Maxine Minx. The protagonist, Maxine, sets out on a quest for fame in 1980s Hollywood, while the identity of the murderer remains a mystery.

Plot summary of MaXXXine

In MaXXXine, Maxine Minx, an aspiring actress and adult film star, gets her big break in 1980s Hollywood. A trail of blood, however, may expose her dark history as an enigmatic killer targets Hollywood's starlets.

The film became the highest-grossing installment in the series with a global gross of $22 million. 

Mia Goth and Ti West's involvement in the sequel

Mia Goth returned from the first film, and West as writer/director and producer ahead of its production. The drama set in 1985 would follow Maxine, the sole survivor of the "Massacre of X," as she chases her dream of a Hollywood career.

The filmmaker decided to remove the supernatural element of haunting from Pearl's character in the original conclusion because, as West put it, it just felt like going backward. In January 2023, Goth finished the script and declared it the best story in the series so far. The actor confirmed that a large number of the original cast and crew members would be returning for the sequel.

Ti West's future plans for the X franchise

Ti West never intended MaXXXine to be the conclusion of the X trilogy, despite hinting in February 2024 that he was working on a fourth film, the release of which would depend on the success of the third. West announced in May 2024 that he was writing and maybe developing a fourth feature film. On the other hand, he made it clear in an August 2024 Reddit AMA that he is pleased with where he left it and that MaXXXine will most likely be the series finale.
